Rain is one of the phenomena of building this great universe. The rain was present in the heritage of the Arabs, their stories, and their poems, so it was of great importance, and it was the cause of the drowning of the people of Noah, so they realized its importance, and began to mention it in their poetry and prose, not only that, but it was also mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, and in multiple words, and this is what made The Arabs excelled in discovering new words that denote rain, so it had many names, and they had the credit for collecting it in small dictionaries that you memorized, including (Rain) by Abu Zaid Al-Ansari (d.: 215 AH), and the book (Al-Anwa) by Al-Asmai (d.: 216 AH), which is what It is still missing, but they were unique in chapters pertaining to rain in their compilations, such as (al-Gharib al-Musannaf) by Abi Ubaid (d. 224 AH), as he wrote a chapter on clouds, rain, times, and winds, and Ibn Sayyida in (Al-Mukhassos), and many others. And through the foregoing, we decided through this research to shed light on the terms of the beginning of rain and the afterlife in the Arab heritage, and counting them, knowing their number, and studying them in a linguistic study, so previous scholars did not pay attention to them. The number of words at the beginning of rain reached (12) words, arranged according to the alphabetical order, while the number of words at the end of it was one word.
