Abstract

This study aims to examine the representations of the Prophetic biography in contemporary poetic discourse through the Diwan Wa Sirājan Munīran by Omar Jalal al-Din Hazzaʿ, as a significant model reflecting the presence of prophetic praise poetry in modern Arabic literature, The study is based on the premise that prophetic praise is no longer a mere repetition of traditional patterns, but has evolved into a poetic discourse carrying intellectual and spiritual dimensions that respond to contemporary transformations and express the needs of the Muslim individual in times of crisis. The research adopts a descriptive-analytical approach by tracing the main thematic dimensions in the Diwan, particularly: the Prophet’s lineage, his birth, the Miʿraj (Ascension), and his superiority over other prophets, It also explores the artistic techniques employed by the poet in constructing poetic imagery, such as personification, semantic progression, repetition, and contrast, The analysis reveals that the poet successfully transforms the Prophetic biography from a historical narrative into a dynamic symbolic structure, drawing its vitality from the interaction between heritage and reality, and presenting the Prophet (pbuh) as a moral, civilizational, and human model. The study further demonstrates that praise in this Diwan operates on multiple levels: genealogical praise based on purity and divine selection; cosmic praise manifested in portraying the birth and ascension as universal events; and preferential praise highlighting the Prophet’s superiority over other prophets through his moral perfection and unique prophetic mission, These levels contribute to constructing an integrated poetic discourse that combines aesthetic and semantic dimensions, making the Prophetic biography a source of contemporary poetic inspiration. The study concludes that prophetic praise in contemporary Arabic poetry—as reflected in this Diwan—represents a renewed extension of the classical tradition, preserving its essence rooted in love and reverence, while simultaneously engaging with modern realities through symbolism, semantic condensation, and the reactivation of the Prophetic biography as a moral and reformative paradigm for both the individual and society.
