Elaboration in the Prophetic Literary Hadiths in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī: A Rhetorical Study

Abstract

This research seeks to investigate the aesthetics of the rhetorical treatment of pedantry in selected hadiths from the Prophet's literature in Sahih al-Bukhari, as a rhetorical model rich in rhetorical connotations. The Prophet's hadiths included various rhetorical styles as they are an expressive structure with artistic connotations. The study revealed the diversity of rhetorical styles associated with the mention of pedantry in these hadiths in terms of their artistic impact, aesthetic dimension, and pictorial function within the Prophet's context, which clarifies the multiplicity of rhetorical levels in the Prophet's text. The method followed in this study is an analytical inductive method based on selected hadiths from Sahih al-Bukhari that are included within the framework of Prophetic literature. The study addressed the subject from several aspects, starting with pedantry from language to terminology, pedantry between analogy and hearing, pedantry in Prophetic literature in the context of proverbs, and pedantry in Prophetic literature in the context of interpretation.
