The stress is one of the important topics in modern phonological studies, because it has an effect on clarifying the intentions of the speakers, and clarifying the meaning required of the whole, and the stress is an embroidering phoneme phenomenon that appears in spoken speech. The opinions of modern scholars about the knowledge of Arab scholars about the phenomenon of stress have varied, and some went to deny this knowledge when others confirmed the Arabs' knowledge of this phonemic phenomenon, and this is evident in the classical Arabic language and dialects as well. The orientalists had a pioneering role in the study of Arabic dialects and the phonemic phenomena in them, especially the colloquial (modern) dialects, and the modernists followed them in the interest in studying Arabic dialects, and they set general rules for stress in the Arabic dialects in separate places in the Arab world.
